-Alliteration; repetition of the same sound at the beginning of two or more words.
-Analogy; similarity in some respects
-Assonance; similarity of sound in words or syllables
-Consonance; correspondence of sounds; harmony of sounds 
-Ballad; 1. narrative folk song or poem. 2. slow romantic song
-Blank verse; unrhymed verse, esp. the unrhymed iambic pentameter most   frequently used in english  dramatic,epic,and reflective verse.
-Figurative Language; speech or writing that departs from literal meaning, speech   or writing that departs from literal meaning, speech or writing employing figures of speech

ree Verse; unrhymed verse without metrical pattern
-Haiku; a major form of Japanese verse, written in 17 syllablesdivided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables, and employinghighly evocative allusions and comparisons, often on the subject of nature or one of the seasons.
-Imagery; the formation of mental images,  figures, or likenesses ofthings, or of such images  collectively: the dim imagery of a dream
-Lyric Poem; a short poem of song like quality
-Narrative Poem; a poem that tells a story and has a plot
-Ode; a lyric poem typically of elaborate or irregular metrical formand expressive of exalted or enthusiastic emotion.
-Rhyme; agreement in the end sounds of lines or words.
-Rhythm; movement with a uniformly recurring element
-Shakespearean Sonnet; sonnet from used by shakespeare and having the rhyme scheme Ababa, cdcd, efef, gg
-Petrarchan Sonnet; sonnet from popularized by Petrarch, consisting of an octave with the rhyme scheme abbaabba and of a sestet with one of several rhyme schemes,as cdecde or cdcded
-Lyric Poems; a short poem in which a single speaker expresses personal thoughts and feelings. Most poems other than dramatic monologues or narrative poems are lyrics. can be in a variety of forms and cover many subjects,from leve and death to everyday experiences. "Theme for English B" by langston Hughes and "The Writer"by richard Wilbur are examples of lyric poems.
-Narrative Poem; tells a story. Like a short story or a novel, a narrative poem has the following elements; characters, setting,plot, and point of view. All of which combine to develop a theme. "The Wreck of the Hesperus" by Henry Wadsworth Long fellow is a narrative poem, as is the odyssey.
